basket page, bypass and go directly to checkout – If you want to place an item into the users cart but do not want to take them to the basket page.  Instead click on a product and take them directly to checkout.  If you want it to be the default, this directive in catalog.cfg should work:

SpecialPage     order   ord/checkout

catalog, delete – Four steps

1. Remove the Catalog line from interchange.cfg, i.e.

perl -pi.bak -e 's/^Catalog\s+construct.*//' interchange.cfg

Or use your favorite editor.

2. Remove the link program (i.e. /cgi-bin/construct).

3. Remove the HTML directory (i.e. /home/httpd/html/construct).

4. Remove the catalog directory (i.e. ~/catalogs/construct).

color, change category background color – edit /var/lib/interchange/foundation/templates/foundation/theme.cfg and change category CATEGORYBAR_BG color from #993333 (red) to #339933 (green) or #333399 (blue) or #663399 (violet).  Restart interchange.

clear out old sessions when interchange dead or not responding - see sessions, expired – purge

Credit card info workaround –

In the directory /usr/lib/interchange/lib/Vend or wherever your IC install is in the /lib/Vend directory there is a file called Order.pm.

 Note: I don't recommend you do this unless you are an experienced IC developer and have an understanding of IC structure.

 Do a find and replace in your favorite editor for the following in the following section only:

Section: sub route_order (2 places)

Find:

ENCRYPTION NEEDED

Replace with:

$::Values->{mv_credit_card_info}

 This will print the full credit card number and info on the mail to store owner.  There maybe one other line that needs to be fixed that was sent to me by another developer. I will post it Monday when I'm in the office.

debug – create a detailed debug log to help track down problems. To enable it, do the following:

1.     edit interchange.cfg and remove the '#' where Variable DEBUG 1 is defined.

2.     edit the source module that affects the feature you are looking at. Most of the work is done by .pm modules in the lib/Vend subdirectory of where interchange is installed (/usr/lib/interchange in my case). There are many lines that begin

#::logDebug(...)

Use your editor to remove the '#' comment character and save the modules.

3.     restart interchange

 As you run your tests, messages will be collected in "/tmp/icdebug" that will be very helpful.

When you are done don't forget to reverse the process.

parameters, pass

How do I pass values to the usertag if want to call the usertag from an interchange page?

If it is called like this

[perl]

$data1="somevalue1";

$data2="somevalue2";

[sometag $data1 $data2]

[/sometag]

[/perl]

You can't mix Perl and ITL Like that. But you can do:

[perl]

$data1="somevalue1";

$data2="somevalue2";

return $Tag->sometag($data1, $data2, $body);

[/perl]

The $body of course is the container text between [sometag] and [/sometag]. It isn't used in your example, but since you defined hasEndTag it will be handled.

Password, Look for in: /var/lib/interchange/sam/products/access.asc

password for admin no longer works/is corrupt –

Delete access.gdbm

Use a command line viewer to look at access.asc, or even better, to edit it.

It appears that you can have the second field blank (the password field) and it will let you in.

Once access.gdbm is deleted, a new one will be generated from access.asc

Please specify the MailOrderTo directive – if you get this problem when you first create a catalog, it probably means you selected something other than “interch” for the user.  Just use “interch”.  That seems to be the only one that works.  (http://interchange.redhat.com/archive/interchange-users/2001/msg08665.html)

Product template – pages/flypage.html.  You can make a template page for any item (i.e. 00029.html) and put it in the catalog's pages directory, and IC will use that instead of flypage, giving you some ability to customize the look and feel on an item-by-item basis.  Probably better is to use PageSelectField to choose from a series of templates based on a property of the product... or perhaps to store display attributes in a database keyed by item sku, category or some other relation and use those to set page properties on the fly...

subcategories – GC>>An example:

I have a Parent category named Figurines. There are sub categories under this one named Wildlife, Angels and Fantasy.

Figurines

·        Wildlife

·        Angels

·        Fantasy

In the Layout section of the UI you are presented with 3 sections across the page. The left one is where you will see things like "New Items", "specials", "Gift Certificates", and such. You want to hit on the plus sign here to create a new category. Scroll down on the left side and it should say 'NEW'. Change that to 'Figurines' and make sure that it is labeled as 'Name' instead of using a link or page, or whatever. (I'm not looking at the page, but doing it from memory) Click on the button to save it.

When the screen returns in that left hand box you will see 'Figurines'. Select that. In the middle of the screen should be an empty box. Click on the plus sign below that. Further down on the screen you will see 'NEW' in a box. Change that to 'Wildlife'. There is an option for you to put in an Interchange page. Select the page that you want it to go to. Or, you can put in your search criteria. Click on the save button.  Open up your store and you should see these in the left frame. 'Figurines should not be 'hot' but 'Wildlife' should be.

—T—

template, change – Open IC Administration. Click the Content button. Click Template Edit in the sub-menu. A box will show three templates. You must edit each one.

TEST0001, change – edit /var/lib/interchange/foundation/etc/order.number

Thumnails in results page

In Admin, go to Content, Page Edit, edit the “results.html”

You’ll see something like this:

<table width="90%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="3">

<tr class="contentbar2">

  <td><b>&nbsp;Product</b></td>

  <td align="center"><b>SKU</b></td>

  <td align="center"><b>Stock</b></td>

  <td align="center"><b>Price</b></td>

  <td align="center"><b>Qty</b></td>

  <td align="center"><b>Buy</b></td>

</tr>

replace “SKU” above with “Picture” (assuming you want to get rid of SKU and put in the thumbnail in its place.  Go down further ‘till you find:

<tr valign="middle">

      <td>

      <INPUT TYPE=hidden  NAME="mv_order_item"  VALUE="[item-code]">

      <a href="[area [item-code]]">[item-description]</a>

      </td>

      <td align="center">[item-code]</td>

      <td align="center">

      [item-calc]

      my $q = q{[item-data inventory quantity]};

Replace <td align="center">[item-code]</td> with:

<td valign="top" width="40">

        [if-item-field thumb]

         <a href="[area [item-code]]">

         <img border="0" src="thumb/[item-field thumb]">

Save.
